The Visual, Fine and Performing Arts Department at Central Arizona College offers an Associates of Applied Science in Digital Media Arts with two specializations available; Graphic Design and Digital Photography and Video, as well as individual classes in this rapidly growing and exciting fields. This dynamic, hands-on program offers state-of-the-art technology and experienced instructors to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare you for a career in creative industries or transfer to a 4-year college or university. Students will develop technical skills while focusing on the latest production techniques for generating computer-based graphics and media-rich productions.

The Entertainment Industry Technology, A.A.S: Stage Lighting

This degree will teach you how to set up, calibrate, engineer, and repair cutting-edge live sound systems for concerts. Students will run sound for performances and program light shows. Our programmable lighting system and our top-tier concert sound system with digital mixing counsel will expose students to practical, hands-on applications maximizing the listening experience in a concert setting.

Program Information

The Visual, Fine & Performing Arts Department at Central Arizona College offers an Associates of Arts in Fine Art. The program in studio art offers a robust variety of art and art history classes and prepares students for transfer to university level and professional work. Central Arizona College goes beyond the fundamentals of art education by offering a wide assortment of courses including ceramics, two and three dimensional design, painting, metal work, and jewelry design. The majority of the courses offered in the Studio Arts department fulfill AGEC requirements and transfer to all Arizona Universities. Our faculty includes several nationally recognized artists.

Where will a Studio Art degree take you?

The Fine Arts A.A. degree helps students lay a foundation of required skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that will aid them in moving on to achieving their B.A., B.F.A. or a Bachelors of Teaching in the Arts degree program. Once you have graduated with your degree you will be well prepared to enter the workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for a variety of job opportunities. You may find yourself working as a commercial arts gallery manager, community arts worker, exhibition designer, a fine artist, higher education lecturer, art therapist, stylist, or secondary teacher, to name a few.

Program Information

The Visual, Fine & Performing Arts Department at Central Arizona College offers an Associates of Arts in Music Performance & Education. The music program offers a variety of music history, theory, and performance classes intended to produce well-rounded musicians ready to enter the workforce. All students take piano class, private lessons and music theory, and also participate in performance ensembles: Choir, band, orchestra, handbells and guitar. Students are encouraged to participate in individual and small group recitals, master classes, and guest lectures.

Where will a Music degree take you?

The Music Concentration prepares students for careers in music. After receiving an A.A. degree, students can continue on to achieve a B.M. or B.A. in many diverse areas, including music education, music performance, music theory, music therapy, ethnomusicology, and composition. Our music degree program includes training in practical musical areas that hone skills for a variety of future job opportunities. With a music degree in hand, you may find yourself working as a band, choir or orchestra teacher, a performer, a church musician, a music therapist, a conductor, a music historian or more!

The Recording Engineering A.A.S. Degree prepares individuals for entry-level positions in the entertainment industry by providing an opportunity to gain a broad knowledge of creating a home recording studio or a professional multi track studio. Skills include recording, production, editing, and arranging various types of audio recordings. Based on Avid Pro Tools HD, students learn the basics of Digital Audio Workstations (D.A.W.) in a 20-workstation Mac Pro Lab where each student works at a Mac Pro computer before advancing into one of three recording studios, each custom designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to real world equipment for practical recording applications. Student also will intern at professional recording studios for the experience of real world applications.
