Web Development AAS

Employment opportunities at the degree level

  • Web Designers – Design and implement how websites look and work.  Specific skills include design-tools-of-choice, HTML, CSS and light JavaScript.
  • UI Designers – Design how the website will look and using design-tools-of-choice with light HTML/CSS skills.  This career is design only.
  • UX Designers – Focus on researching how people use a website.  They implement changes and test results for better user interaction.
  • Front End Developers – Construct webpages using technologies such as JavaScript and jQuery.  No design involved but may build on the design of a graphic web designer.
  • Back-End Developers – Focus on back-end work with programming languages specific to the web such as PHP, Ruby, Python, light JavaScript, etc.  Some design work, heavy on programming, security and structure.
  • Full Stack Development – Is a high end career.  Full Stack Developers work with a combination of front and back end design and development.

  • Certified Bookkeeper – Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions.
  • Office Manager – Supports operations by organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures in order to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Accountant – Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.

Business (A.A.S.)

The Associate of Applied Science Degree prepares students for employment directly into the workforce of their chosen degree.  A degree in business leads to careers in Accounting, Consulting, Commerce, Business Administration, e-Business or e-Commerce, Finance, Marketing and Management.  Some people with a business administrative degree will choose to work in private retail or wholesale businesses while others will select government work.  Fierce competition is expected for highly competitive and peak-earning positions such as management consultant or business analyst.

Computer Programming (A.A.S.)

Employment opportunities at the degree level

  • Computer Programmer – Write programs in a variety of languages, such as C++ and Java.  Test code that allows computer applications and software programs to function properly.
  • Application Software Developer – Develop, create and modify general computer applications software of specialized utility programs.
  • Back-End Developer – Use server-side languages like PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, C++ and C# to build applications and tools like MySQL, Oracle and SQL Server to find, save or change data and serve it back to the front-end code.
  • Full Stack Developer – A combination of front and back end work.  High-end career.
  • System Software Developer – Research, design, develop and test operating systems-level software, compilers and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.

  • Restaurant Manager – Pleases customers by providing a pleasant dining experience, manages staff and develops budgets.
  • Kitchen Director – Prepares meals by providing food preparation expertise, promoting and providing quality food serves, manages kitchen staff, budgeting and ordering supplies.
  • Hotel Manager – Serves guests by providing sleeping accommodations, food and beverage services, special event planning and directing staff.
  • Catering or Event Director – Assists clients to coordinate food, beverage and entertainment needs for special events.

Microcomputer Business Application (A.A.S.)

Employment opportunities at the degree level

  • Front Desk Coordinator – Will be greeting and directing clients, some filing, data entry, and completing other various administrative tasks is required.
  • Receptionist/Secretary – Responsibilities include answering calls, directing information, mail, administrative typing, letters & correspondence, spreadsheets and CSI/MasterSpec specifications.
  • Administrative Assistant/Receptionist – Act as the Receptionist and first point of contact for all visitors.  Provide administrative support to members of the Senior Management team to include but not limited to: maintaining calendars, scheduling and organizing meetings, arranging travel and processing expense reports.  Order all office supplies and ensure supplies are appropriately stocked.  Coordinate and provide support on special events/projects.

Network Administration (A.A.S.)

A combination of general education classes, business skill development and core computer networking classes prepares you for continued education with your BAS degree at U of A South with enough involvement in the BAS program, classes will be taught on-line and at CAC, saving travel to the Tucson area.

  • Help Desk Lead – Responsible for leading a team in analyzing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the computer system, terminal network, and peripheral equipment.
  • Network Administrator Assistant – Responsible for all aspects of system administration including networks, applications, database, and telecommunications by implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring, and the development of specialized system procedures.
