Central Arizona College Partnering with BetterMynd to Offer Students Free Teletherapy Sessions
By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing
Central Arizona College has partnered with BetterMynd, an online therapy platform, to offer students access to free teletherapy sessions from a diverse network of licensed mental health counselors.
Statistics show that one out of three college students seek therapy from a professional for their mental or emotional well-being. The common issues a student may discuss with a counselor include anxiety and how to cope, assistance during the loss of a loved one or breakup, experiences of trauma or abuse, academic pressures, housing issues and more.
Dave Leenhouts, Dean of Student Development explains, “Central Arizona College is committed to supporting students as they learn, grow, and thrive. By offering mental health services and assistance with basic needs, we help students build a stable foundation for academic and personal success.” He added, “Our partnership with BetterMynd allows us to provide a valuable resource, ensuring students have access to the care and support they need.”
Teletherapy sessions are 50 minutes long and conducted through private and confidential live video meetings by using a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. Sessions are available during the day, at night and on weekends, making it convenient and flexible for students to get support whenever it is best for them.
Additionally, one-hour wellbeing workshops conducted by licensed counselors are available to students. With more than 20 workshops offered each month, students can choose to participate in those that focus on the mental health topics they are most interested in. There is no limit to the number of workshops a student can attend. To participate in these workshops, a student will visit their personal dashboard to view the schedule.
Services offered through BetterMynd are available to CAC students only. For more information visit: https://centralaz.edu/current-students/student-support/mental-health/.
