Central Arizona College Announces the Return of Saguaro Speaks

By Maggie Almquist, Associate Director Public Relations and Marketing

Central Arizona College is excited to announce the long-awaited release of Saguaro Speaks Issue #3, marking a significant return for the college’s literary anthology. First launched by former CAC Professor of English Keith Eubanks, the anthology originally published two print editions in 2006 and 2007, showcasing the talents of students and faculty through stories, essays, and poetry. Returning in Fall 2024 as a digital edition under the leadership of Professor Tim Hohmann, Issue #3 of Saguaro Speaks features a dynamic range of student work, including personal essays, fiction, poetry, and academic essays. This issue also highlights the winning poems from Central Arizona College’s 2024 Black History Month Poetry Competition.

“I am delighted to announce the re-start of Central Arizona College’s Language & Literary Arts magazine, Saguaro Speaks,” says Tim Hohmann, CAC Professor of English and Saguaro Speaks editor. “I would like to extend a special thank you to Dean Karen Hindhede for her support in helping us to revitalize this publication and to Professor Wendy Owens for her dedication in curating the academic essays.”

Looking ahead, Saguaro Speaks is set to publish two issues annually, one in the spring and another in the fall. At this time, only submissions of student works are accepted via CAC instructors, as part of the college’s mission to spotlight the exceptional work being produced in classrooms.
