CAC Students Selected for All Arizona Academic Team

Six Central Arizona College (CAC) students have been selected to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society All-Arizona Academic Team.
All-Arizona students demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service, that extends beyond the classroom to benefit society. Students are nominated by their community college and submit their application to be considered for this prestigious award through the Phi Theta Kappa International Honorary organization. Phi Theta Kappa conducts three rounds of judging. The Arizona Board of Regents awards scholarships and tuition waivers to those selected for Arizona’s three state universities: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University or the University of Arizona. Scholarships cover resident tuition for 10 consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits (which ever the student meets first).
All-Arizona Academic Team Scholars from CAC include Robert Serrano from the Maricopa Campus, Kyle Morris and Sevasti Silvia from the San Tan Campus, Ralph Emmanuel Rosales and Sabine Mahi from the Signal Peak Campus, and Bridget Bachicha from the Superstition Mountain Campus.
Robert Serrano attends classes at the Maricopa Campus. He is majoring in Civil Engineering and plans to transfer to Arizona State University to complete his Bachelor and ultimately Master of Science in Civil Engineering. His goals include designing new highways to solve congestion and designing a sustainable city of the future. While at CAC he has served as a Phi Theta Kappa officer, member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and was on the President’s list. Outside of his studies he volunteers his time at a local food bank.
Kyle Morris is a student at the San Tan Campus, majoring in history. He will transfer to Arizona State University to pursue a Bachelor of History. His career goal is to become a high school History teacher where he can bring history to life, helping each student to understand the importance of where we came from and where we are going. He was on the Dean’s List and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. When not attending classes, he volunteers for an at-risk teen center and his church’s community events.
Sevasti Silvia is a communications major at the San Tan Campus. Following graduation from CAC, she plans to transfer to the University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences to earn a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. Her career goal is to work for the United Nations as a diplomat. She has served as the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter President and Phi Theta Kappa Regional Vice President, is a CAC Honors program member, and Student Government Association Board Lead. Additionally, she is a student employee at the San Tan Campus library. She has received multiple awards including the PTK Arizona Region Outstanding Officer Award and Outstanding First Year Student Award.
A mechanical engineering major at the Signal Peak Campus, Ralph Emmanuel Rosales plans to transfer to Arizona State University to complete a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering. His ambition lies in working with NASA and engineering technology for space exploration. While at the College, he serves as a STEM Tutor, and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Sabine Mahi is a nursing major at the Signal Peak Campus. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Northern Arizona University. Her career goal is to achieve a Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Duke University. Ultimately, she plans to work with individuals in the Intensive Care Unit, helping with anesthesiology, hematology, and palliative nursing care. She has volunteered her time regularly with Anthony Bates Foundation, Poston Butte High School food fundraiser, LifePoint church daycare center, and Church of Christ wedding setup. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and a NAU2go college participant.
Bridget Bachicha is a student at the Superstition Mountain Campus, working toward the completion of a pharmacy technician certificate. She plans to transfer to the University of Arizona to earn her bachelor’s degree in Nursing with the long-term goal of continuing her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. She is a preteen leader at Mountain View Church and involved in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
