April 2025 Proclaimed Community College Month

By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing

Katie Hobbs, Governor of Arizona, proclaimed support for the ten Arizona Community College Districts, recognizing April 2025 as Arizona Community College Month.

The proclamation coincides with National Community College Month in April and celebrates the contributions that Arizona Community Colleges make daily to shaping the future of Arizona and its economy through high-quality education and training.

Community colleges were created to serve the needs of their communities. According to the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), public community colleges are a uniquely American educational model that was designed to guarantee access to affordable, high-quality higher education for all people. They serve as an onramp to bachelor’s, master’s and higher-level degrees for many students, and particularly for the most demographically and socioeconomically diverse students. They guarantee fair admissions for all students and without community colleges, many American students would not be able to access higher education at all due solely to financial limitations and other inevitable barriers.

As one of the Arizona Community College Districts, Central Arizona College (CAC) has been serving and educating the diverse communities of Pinal County by providing accessible, educational, economic, cultural, and personal growth opportunities for those of all ages for over 55 years.

CAC provides a world class learner experience and empowers its students and staff to succeed by providing a TRUE Learning community through accessible, educational, economic, cultural and personal growth opportunities for those of all ages.

For those interested in obtaining a certificate or degree, CAC’s guided pathways provide a clear roadmap of sequenced courses. With nine areas of interest, students can find the pathway they want to a great career.

Additionally, comprehensive workforce services tailored to meet the evolving needs of the community and economy are met through CAC’s dedication to ensuring the workforce requirements of Pinal County are achieved. CAC’s primary focus is on cultivating strong partnerships with existing, new and prospective employers to ensure programs align with current industry demands. This collaboration enables the college to offer a diverse range of workforce programs designed to equip students with the necessary skills and certifications for successful careers.

Numerous non-credit community and continuing education classes provide various learning opportunities to assist with career advancement and professional development while others are designed to help community members pursue a hobby or personal interest. Continuing education courses can lead to industry recognized certifications and licenses.

The possibilities are endless at CAC, and the college takes immense pride in providing the communities of Pinal County with high quality educational opportunities.
