Club Advisor Information
The primary Advisor must be a CAC staff or faculty member who works full-time for the college. Co-Advisors (or secondary advisors) may be part-time staff, adjunct faculty, or affiliated community members. Sometimes it takes a while to find an advisor please see the Office of Student Life staff if you require additional assistance.
While the information below is contained in the Registration Form, it should also be included in the Club’s Charter document.
Eligibility: An advisor must be either a full time faculty member (not on sabbatical) or staff member at Central Arizona College.
Mandatory Expectations: The Advisor serves as the link between the Student Club and CAC; providing guidance to the club in regards to CAC policies and procedures.
General Expectations of the Advisor’s Role:
While specific roles should be defined by the organization and the advisor, an advisor should generally…
- reserve spaces in 25Live on behalf of the club
- ensure club publications meet a minimum standard (see Advisor Manual for guidance: https://centralaz.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Advising-Manual.docx [LINK])
- provide guidance and structure on club activities
- attend (or have a co-advisor attend) all club activities and meetings
- help members apply principles and skills learned in and out of the classroom
- work with the club on post-event feedback and future improvements
- coach club members in leadership techniques and skills
- assist in maintaining high standards of programming and individual performance
- provide continuity with the history and tradition of past years
- assist in the development of procedures and plans of action

Funding/Fundraising
EVENT FUNDING REQUESTS
Registered student clubs will be able to request funding for events through the Office of Student Life. The request of these funds should be for smaller events or meetings. For larger events, such as conferences and trips) clubs will be responsible for raising their own funds to participate.

PROCESS:
- Coordinator of Student Engagement will review your request within 4 business days.
- Coordinator of Student Engagement will email the student requestor and the primary advisor with information about whether the request is approved, partially approved, or denied.
- If funding is approved an email containing additional instructions and information will be sent to the student requestor and primary advisor.
- If funding request is online ordering (e.g., Amazon or Costco), please submit request at least 3 weeks in advance.
- If funding request includes services from an external vendor, you must submit requests at least 4 weeks in advance due to Business Office contract process.
- Clubs may only submit ONE Event Funding Request per semester (Fall & Spring). The maximum amount funded per request is $150.
FUNDRAISING
Registered student clubs can use fundraisers to add funds into their club account for trips, conferences, food, prizes, giveaways, etc.
Fundraising Guidelines
- Organizations are allowed to sell food during a fundraiser such as pre-made frozen foods from a grocery store (e.g., hot dogs, hamburgers, etc)
- To be permitted to sell food, a club member must COMPLETE and PASS a certified Food Handler’s course through the State of Arizona.
- All food items must be pre-cooked, purchased, or donated food from a health-inspected location. (i.e. a restaurant or grocery store).
- The sale of home-prepared or cooked food is not permitted.
- Currently enrolled student members & a faculty/staff advisor of the student club must be present during the entire time of the event.
- Club members are responsible for ensuring that proposed activities comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
- More guidelines or policies may be added by the discretion of the Office of Student Life.
Club Information
Christian Challenge
The Christian Challenge Club is a joint venture between Central Arizona College and the Baptist churches of the Southern Baptist Convention and is part of the Baptists Collegiate Ministries. The BCM is a nationally recognized program having a large student involvement and the longest history of Christian student groups. For more information, reach out to Steve Dokka (dfsteven@gmail.com).
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK)
The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK) provides an opportunity to develop leadership and service, lively fellowship for scholars, and the stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. Young Americans for Freedom (YAF)
The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at CAC was established in the fall of 2023. Our purpose is to bring students together to learn about history and the United States Constitution. YAF chapter members uphold the ideas of individual freedom, free enterprise, limited government, strong national protectionism and traditional conservative values through educational activities, special events, and campus leadership.
