What is an HSE? What is a GED?

HSE stands for High School Equivalency. It is a diploma that proves you have the same academic knowledge and skills as a traditional high school graduate.

In Arizona, the most common way to earn your HSE diploma is by passing the GED® (General Educational Development) tests.

  • The GED is the test you take.
  • The HSE is the diploma you receive once you pass.

How CAC’s Adult Education Program Helps You Achieve Your HSE:

At Central Arizona College, we offer a flexible and supportive Adult Education program designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.

We provide:

  • Free GED® preparation classes

  • In-person and virtual class options

  • Guidance on your next steps—college, career training, or employment

Whether you’re returning to school after many years or just taking your first steps toward a new future, we’re here to help you succeed.
