Medical Assistant, AAS & Certificate
The Medical Assistant AAS Degree and Certificate programs are offered at the SMC campus. The AAS degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and is designed to prepare degree students to be eligible to take the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification exam as well as the American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification exam while certificate program students are eligible to take the AMT certification exam upon completion of their respective programs. Graduates who pass these credentialing exams will be able to practice in the health care facility as CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT).
Graduates are expected to take one of the certification exams for which they are eligible.
Program Information
The Medical Assistant AAS Degree (accredited by CAAHEP) and Certificate programs offered at the Superstition Mountain Campus (SMC) are designated to prepare students to be eligible for the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and/or the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification exams.Graduates who pass one of these exams will be able to practice in health care facilities as a Registered Medical Assistant – RMA (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant – CMA (AAMA).
Graduates are expected to take either the RMA or CMA certification exam after completion of practicum.
