Superstition Radio Control Helicopter Association Establishes Scholarships for CAC Students

By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing

The Central Arizona College Foundation recently received a donation from the Superstition Radio Control Helicopter Association (SRCHA) to establish a scholarship supporting CAC’s forthcoming drone program.

SRCHA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the hobby of flying remote control helicopters. Each year, SRCHA hosts the Southwest Heli Rodeo, a premier event held the Thursday through Sunday before Veterans Day in Arizona. This gathering attracts RC helicopter pilots from across the country and, in some years, even internationally. The event raises funds to support community organizations.

This past November, SRCHA hosted the Southwest Heli Rodeo at CAC’s Signal Peak Campus. The event not only showcased their dedication to the hobby but also a commitment to giving back. A raffle to raise funds for a scholarship was conducted. As a result of the fundraising efforts, the club has initiated a $2,000 scholarship to assist students in need.

SRCHA’s Southwest Heli Rodeo will return to CAC’s Signal Peak Campus November 5-9, 2025. Community members are invited to attend the event, support the club’s initiatives and witness their passion for the hobby. For more information about the club, visit https://srcha.fun or email info@srcha.fun.
