Elisa Juarez Memorial Scholarship Established at CAC
By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing
The Elisa Juarez Memorial Scholarship was recently established to provide financial support for current students enrolled at Central Arizona College.
The scholarship, established by the Juarez Extended Family, was created in memory of Elisa Juarez who served as Director of Financial Aid at CAC from 2004 until her death in May 2023. Juarez started her journey at CAC in 1988 as a student worker in the Financial Aid Office. During her time at CAC, she assisted countless students. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and colleague who is remembered for her hard work ethic and kind heart.
The Elisa Juarez Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students after the semester begins and may be used to assist students facing emergency situations. A total of $500 will be awarded each academic year, with $250 being given out during the fall semester and $250 being awarded for the spring semester.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if eligible and the online CAC scholarship application at centralaz.edu/scholarships. Non-eligible students such as undocumented and international students are eligible to apply without FAFSA completion. Students must be in good academic standing as per CAC, state, and federal guidelines. To apply a student must have a referral or letter of reference from a faculty or staff member demonstrating they are using resources at the college to assist their situation and remove barriers. Additionally, students must write a short essay demonstrating how these funds will assist them in their academic journey and/or the hardship they are facing.
Tax-deductible contributions can be made online at centralaz.edu/give to support this and other CAC scholarships.
