CAC Student, Lexi Trimmer Gets Poem Published
By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing
Central Arizona College student, Lexi Trimmer has received the prestigious honor of having her poem “Reconciliation” selected to be published in the 29th edition of Nota Bene, Phi Theta Kappa’s Honors Anthology. Her entry was one of over 1,400 Nota Bene entries received and was selected by a national panel of judges. The edition will come out this summer.
Trimmer explains the poem was inspired by her fiancée to whom she was married to on May 11, 2024. “We had just had an argument over something silly and we were both trying to find a way to reconnect emotionally afterwards. So, I got up and started dancing, overall, just being goofy and trying to get rid of the negative energy. It started to make me feel better, so I had my fiancée stand up and dance with me too! Within minutes we were both laughing our butts off and had forgotten about our argument entirely.”
For most of her K-12 education, Trimmer was homeschooled. She played varsity volleyball for Sequoia Pathway in Maricopa. She is a current major in graphic design and plans to expand her education through online courses with either Northern Arizona University or Grand Canyon University. It is her goal to earn both a graphic design and business management degree that will provide her with the opportunity to run her own graphic design business and State Farm office.
Trimmer stated, “I’ve been writing poetry and stories for as long as I can remember and to have one published is truly a dream come true.” She added, “If anyone is struggling with feeling their works aren’t good enough. I guarantee you they are, you just have to find the right audience. Keep writing, keep creating, and keep being who you are, the rest will fall into place.”
