Applications Now Being Accepted for Central Arizona College Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

Applications are now being accepted for both the fall and spring cohorts of Central Arizona College’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSEE) program.

The BSEE is designed to prepare future educators to meet Arizona teacher certification requirements and provides a foundation needed to teach in a kindergarten through eighth grade. Students will engage in a purposeful program of study grounded in theory and infused with practical classroom setting experiences that allows them to develop the skills, knowledge and dispositions necessary to succeed in the field of education.

The BSEE features a four-year experiential curriculum that builds on an associate degree in Elementary Education (K-8). Upper-division courses are offered fully online, allowing students throughout Arizona to attend live virtual classes and earn their bachelor’s degree from anywhere in the state.

Before completing a 12-week student teaching experience, candidates complete 120 hours of field experience. These hands-on opportunities provide authentic classroom experience in general education along with professional mentorship and support options. Students also connect with faculty and peers through engaging virtual instruction in an interactive and supportive learning environment, helping them develop effective classroom management strategies and the confidence to lead their own classroom.

Upon completion of the BSEE program, graduates will be eligible to seek a Standard Arizona Teacher Certificate in Elementary Education for grades K-8 with the Structured English Immersion Endorsement and the K-5 Literacy Endorsement.

The curriculum is aligned to the standards of the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), Central Arizona College Student Learning Outcomes (CSLOs) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
