Library Catalog

Find books, DVDs, government documents, and more from any of the 5 CAC Libraries and all of the Pinal County Public Libraries.

If the book you want is at a different campus or one of the public libraries, hit the request button and enter your login information. Your barcode is found on your ID (not your 880 number) and your password is the last 4 numbers of your phone number.

*Articles, eBooks, and streaming videos accessed through our databases are available only to CAC students, faculty, and staff. For this reason, authorized users who are off-campus must log in through Blackboard. Once in Blackboard, select CAC Library Page under Your Institution or Student Library Resources under Organizations, then select Databases: Articles, eBooks, and Streaming Videos.

Your student or staff ID is your library card. Twenty items can be checked out at one time, books for 3 weeks and DVDs for 10 days.

Use the call number to find items on the shelf.

  • Nursing books are spread throughout the R’s, but are heaviest in the RM-RT range
  • Most medical resources are in the R-RZ range
  • See QH and QM-QZ for biology and physiology

WorldCat

Lists materials from libraries worldwide and can be checked out through InterLibrary Loan. Come and speak to a library staff member to request books.

eBook Collection (EBSCO)

Type in your keyword(s) to see results from all titles.  You may also search by clicking on the Health & Medicine under Browse by Category, and then selecting the Subject link to narrow your list by subject.

Gale eBooks

Complete, full-text eBooks covering most topics including subject-specific encyclopedias. Search by keyword(s), or select Medicine under Browse Collection.

  • Encyclopedia of Medicine (2006) Information on medical disorders and concepts. Articles include information about causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatments, and procedures.
  • Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health (2007) Covers topics on body systems and functions, conditions, diseases, theories, techniques and practices, and medical devices and equipment.
  • Encyclopedia of Public Health (2013) Covers public health concerns. Topics include diseases and conditions, health and wellness, nutrition, ethics and law, statistics, sanitation, and environmental effects on health and well-being.

Academic OneFile

Search by combining concepts. Select Advanced Search located under the search box. Enter your topic into the first search box and Nursing in the second search box to combine a search of both terms. You can also try a subject search by clicking on Subject Guide Search.  Click on link for Subdivisions to find articles on specific topics within the overall subject or click on Related Subjects to find broader, narrower, and related terms.

OmniFile

Access journal articles by entering your keyword(s) into the Search box.  OmniFile also lets you search by subject. Click the Advanced Search link and select SU Subject from the drop-down menu to the right of the search box.

CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)

Gale Health and Wellness

Search by keyword(s), browse Topics of Interest, or Browse Topics by category such as Disease and Conditions, Drugs, Mental Health, and more.

Gale Power Search

Search by keyword(s) all available Gale databases and modules from just one place or select specific ones to search. Included are Nursing and Allied Health Collection and Health Reference Center Academic. You can also find Health & Wellness Resource Center here, which offers access to thousands of full-text medical journals, magazines, reference works, multimedia, and more.

Search by keyword(s) for up-to-date information on a complete range of healthcare topics.

Nursing and Allied Health Collection

The main page lets you search by keyword(s) or use the Topic Finder to visualize connections between search terms.

Salem Health

Search by keyword(s). The main page defaults to the overall Health category. Click on General Health to find articles on topics of genetics and inherited conditions, psychology and mental health, and cancer.

Streaming Videos*

Films on Demand

Find full length streaming videos by entering a keyword in the Search box. Click on the triple bar symbol to find the subject Health & Medicine and its subcategories under View All Subjects.

Arizona Vital Statistics

Arizona health statistics with monthly updates, covering AZ vital statistics (births/deaths/marriages), hospital discharges, demographics and more, from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Latest information on illnesses, outbreaks, health conditions, emergency preparedness; includes many statistical sources and the Public Health Image Library.

Lab Tests Online

Provided by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, this site explains clinical lab tests.

MedlinePlus

Find information on health conditions, wellness issues, and more in easy-to-read language on MedlinePlus, the up-to-date, trusted health information site from the National Institute of Health and the National Library of Medicine.

Merck Manual Online

Online encyclopedic health guide published by Merck Research Laboratories.

National Guideline Clearinghouse

Evidence-based practice guidelines from the National Guideline Clearinghouse, US department of Health and Human Services.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Overviews of health topics including conditions and procedures, health statistics, patient information.

PubMed

Online academic journal article citations, some free content. From the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.

The Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab) is a very respected website that can provide guidance on many of the finer points of citing in MLA or APA.

RefWorks is an easy to use citation manager that can help you…

  • Access and manage research information online, from any browser.
  • Import references from CAC Library databases and websites.
