Central Arizona College Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Accepting OB Patient Volunteers

The Central Arizona College (CAC) Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program is seeking OB patient volunteers at every stage of pregnancy, from the early first trimester through full term, to take part in scanning sessions.

Dr. Khalid Hawwary, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Director explains, “This new opportunity allows expecting mothers to enjoy an additional glimpse of their little one while directly supporting the education of the next generation of skilled sonographers.” He added, “Whether you are just finding out you’re expecting or counting down the final weeks, we would love to have you join us.”

Volunteers will have the opportunity to see their baby on screen in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. Students training to become future sonographers will conduct the scans under the guidance of experienced faculty. Scanning sessions are offered at no cost to volunteers.

Dr. Khalid emphasized, “These scanning sessions are for educational purposes and do not replace routine prenatal care. Volunteers are encouraged to consult with their physician before participating.”

Appointment availability is limited. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the program soon to reserve a time. Scanning appointments will be held at the CAC Superstition Mountain Campus (805 S. Idaho Road, Apache Junction, AZ 85119.)
