CAC Scholarships Available for Community and Continuing Education Students Beginning Fall 2025

By Angela Askey, Executive Director Public Relations and Marketing

Recently, the Dr. Jani Attebery Lifelong Learning Memorial Scholarship was established to support non-credit learners taking Community and Continuing Education courses at Central Arizona College.

Dr. Jani Attebery was the former CAC Dean of Workforce who passed away on January 7, 2022. As an educator, Dr. Attebery was extremely student focused and dedicated to student success. She spent her entire life devoted to finding a place and a path for those students marginalized by the world. She instilled in them dignity and helped them to reach their full potential. Dr. Attebery had a quiet yet immense impact on this world and the lives of thousands of students who she encountered during her life’s journey.

Megan Purvis, Director of Community & Continuing Education stated, “This scholarship will largely benefit our non-traditional students who are taking these courses. Since classes are non-credit, students are not eligible for FAFSA money. This provides a new opportunity for CAC to help bridge the gap to education by helping to alleviate some of the financial barriers for our non-credit learners that don’t have access to the same type of financial assistance as a for credit learner.”

Community and Continuing Education students may complete the scholarship application at https://centralaz.edu/community/foundation/scholarships/.

With continued support, the Dr. Jani Attebery Lifelong Leaming Memorial Scholarship will provide educational opportunities for students in years to come. Tax-deductible contributions can be made online at www.centralaz.edu/give to support this and other CAC scholarships.
