Retirement

Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)

Most full-time Central Arizona College employees are automatically members of the Arizona State Retirement System.  Certain part-time employees who meet the “20/20” Rule are also automatically members.  ASRS is a defined benefit system.  The salary contribution rate for 2017-2018 is 11.50% (That includes 11.34% for retirement and 0.16% for long term disability).  Contribution rates are set by Arizona State Statute.

The ASRS website is an excellent information tool and can be accessed at www.azasrs.gov

Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS)

Central Arizona College police officers are members of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

Disability and Worker’s Compensation

Long Term Disability

Our long term disability policy is administered through the Arizona State Retirement System.  Should you become permanently disabled, an application to ASRS will be submitted after you have not worked for two months.  There is a six-month waiting period from the initial date of disability for payment of benefits by ASRS and benefits are paid at 66 2/3% of your base salary.

Worker’s Compensation

Insurance Carrier:  Copper Point Mutual

Coverage Begins:  Date of Employment

Any time you are injured during scheduled work hours or even if it is during a scheduled College function which is not during normal work hours or it is off campus, you must complete an Accident Injury Report Form.  You must also inform the physician that you were injured on the job so that SCF of  Arizona will cover the injury.  Your regular medical insurance will not cover on-the-job injuries.
