CAC Online Learning Student Guide

Discussion Board Guidelines

General Discussion Board Requirements:

Read the Instructor’s expectations for the Discussion Board carefully. Some Instructors require weekly posts, some Instructors require you to post and respond to 1 or 2 classmates, and some Instructors may require you to post only as a written assignment. Not all classes have the same Discussion Board requirements!

Discussion Board assignments need to be done by the due date or within the time frame allotted. Think of these “discussions” as the same as a class discussion. If you showed up for class 2 days after it was over, none of your classmates would hear what you had to say! It is the same with the Discussion Board - if you post your response after the due date, it will not be seen or read by your classmates.

Do not use “Me too” Or “I agree with you” as a response. This adds little to the flow of the conversation or topic. You must provide more information…why do you agree? Why do you feel the way you do? Do you have an experience that illustrates this point? Make sure that your posting says what you want it to say. Read it carefully before posting it.

If you quote someone or something, please cite your source!

Discussion Board assignments will show points in the gradebook ONLY after the Instructor has graded, not immediately upon completion.
