Determining Internet Explorer Version

Locate "About Internet Explorer".   Depending on the version of Internet Explorer and the available toolbar options chosen, "About Internet Explorer" is accessed in different ways.

To use the Menu Bar, click on Help, About Internet Explorer.  If the Menu Bar is not visible pressing the "ALT" key on the keyboard will temporarly display the Menu Bar

To use the Command Bar, click the "Question Mark" icon, then select "About Internet Explorer"

If no Internet Explorer Toolbars are visible, click the "Gear" icon in the upper right corner, then select "About Internet Explorer" from the dropdown menu.

Version: Make sure the Version number is 8, 9 or 10.  The rest of the numbers can vary.

  • If you are using Windows XP you must have Internet Explorer 8.
  • If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 you must have Internet Explorer 8 or 9.
  • If you are using Windows 8 you will have Internet Explorer 10.

After you have verified the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer, choose the correct version from the menu on the left and follow the steps to check your brower settings.
