Central Arizona College RHA Constitution

  

 Article I-Name

This organization shall be known as the Residence Hall Association at Central Arizona College. Hereafter this organization will be referred to as RHA.

Article II-Membership

Every student living in campus housing on the Signal Peak campus of Central Arizona College shall be a member of the RHA. 

Article III-Mission Statement

The mission for Central Arizona College’s Residence Hall Association is to be the voice of the residents and provide the best experiences and opportunities to on-campus students.

Article IV-Executive Officers

1.      President

Duties of the President

  1. Developing organizational direction

  2. Be present at all general RHA functions 

  3. Presiding over all general and executive meetings

  4. Act as official representative for the RHA on any and all occasions while on campus where such representation is needed

  5. Review and edit the constitution and by-laws as necessary

  6. Oversight and coordination of the current budget and expenditures for  RHA with the Advisor

  7. Meet individually with the advisor once a week;

  8. Meet with RHA executives bi-monthly and as needed;

  9. Support and enable other executive officers in their council establishment and attendance duties;

  10. Assign other duties as appropriate;

  11. Staff hours at Residence Life Desk

2.       Vice President

Duties of the Vice President

  1. Serve as student advocate for the organization;

  2. Be present at all general RHA functions 

  3. Survey resident opinions and feedback;

  4. Coordinate and oversee a community service projects each semester;

  5. Meet with the President weekly and as needed;

  6. Fill in for the President as needed; and

  7. Other duties as assigned by President.

3.       Business Administrator

Duties of Business Administrator

  1. Oversee the finances of the RHA;

  2. Be present at all general RHA functions 

  3. Coordinate purchasing for RHA as needed;

  4. Be responsible for all aspects of the care package program for RHA in coordination with the advisor.

  5. Record, compile and distribute the minutes and agendas for every general assembly meeting;

  6. Maintain files containing the minutes from each of the general meetings available for inspection by any campus resident;

  7. Maintain files containing the minutes from each of the general meetings available for inspection by any campus resident;

  8. Serve as the RHA office manager

  9. Other duties as assigned by President.

Article V-Meetings

1.       Chair: The President shall chair all meetings. In the absence of the President, the line of succession will determine the meeting chair.  

2.        Agenda: The President will determine the agenda. Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda must notify the President. 

3.       Purpose: The purpose of General Council meetings is to conduct the business of the organization, relay information to and between Community Representatives, and create unity amongst the members. 

4.       Meetings shall occur bi-weekly in accordance with the academic calendar. General Council meetings are open to all members. 

Article VI-Requirements


1-Academic Requirements: 

  •  Currently have at least a 2.5 or higher cumulative and 2.0 or higher semester grade point average (GPA). If offered an RHA position, you must maintain a 2.5 cumulative and 2.0 semester GPA to remain eligible for the position.  

  •  Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours for undergraduate students) during the fall 2017 and spring 2018 semesters in order to remain eligible for the RA position

Other Requirements: 

  •  Have lived in an on-campus residential community for at least one semester (at CAC or another institution) by the end of the spring 2017 semester.

  •  Applicants currently on Probation through Residence Life and/or Student Life are ineligible for consideration.

  •  You would be applying for the full 2017-2018 academic year and will not be hired for only one semester.
