Edward Aguirre currently resides in Dudleyville, Arizona. Grew up in the Copper Corridor off highway 77 in a string of 10 small towns. Attended Hayden High School and Central Arizona College through a first-step and early college program student. After having attended Aravaipa as a high school sophomore and receiving the Promise for the Future Scholarship of the CAC Foundation, it seemed natural to attend an institution where I already felt at home.
He attended Aravaipa as a full-time student in Fall 2013 and was a shy, introverted individual. But through a supportive and positive environment of mentors and professors. He became an active student on campus and throughout the CAC District. Where he Joined Phi Theta Kappa, Student Leadership Organization, assisted in creation of Science Club, lobbied in D.C. through the Student Public Policy Forum and most recently joined the Hispanic Leadership Institute. His involvement in clubs and organizations lead him to be an out-spoken and confident individual. He Received numerous awards and opportunities such as speaking at the CAC district graduation in 2015, becoming an All-Arizona Academic Team Scholarship. Finally, he had found his voice and place in his community and taking initiative for political action and advocacy.
His passion for systemic change and social justice, combined with his interest in science courses taken at Aravaipa inspired him to pursue the medical field in becoming a Nurse Practitioner. As a gay youth, he seeks to eliminate disparities and oppression faced by LGBTQ individuals who seek healthcare. His long term goal is to work as a nurse practitioner in a clinic that delivers health care to everyone and to ensure no one will experience discrimination or compromise their health because of their identity.
