Little About Me: I have taught both grade-level and ELL (aka CLD Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students) elementary school children. I have worked part-time with Central Arizona College (Central) for over 9 years now. During my time with Central I have worked as a Student Services Floater; Secretary to the Dean of Students; taught English to Adult ELL students; ESL Bilingual Ed. classes; and, Structured English Immersion (SEI) to Arizona Educators. Of course I love them both - elementary and adult students! So, I now continue my journey as adjunct faculty with Central. I've also had the privilege to be a Mentor Teacher for Prescott College and Arizona State University as well as an University Supervisor for Northern Arizona University (NAU).
Along with professing with Central, I have had the opportunity to develop a few college classes for the college as well as collaborate with other professors in creating other courses for Central's EDU department. It has been an honor doing so using the knowledge I've gained from teaching K-8 students as well as using the knowledge I gain each semester through research and professing the courses I do with the college. I also take the time to substitute teach and volunteer in K-8 schools throughout the year to keep in touch and up to date with how charter, private and public schools are working with students. It is a wonderful partnership and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with each soon to be educator I have the privilege of working with each semester.
I have a wonderful family of five - my husband, our daughter; our son; and, PC our 9 year old BIG long haired cat. We keep busy and are always on the go! Our family enjoys reading, hiking and four-wheeling (quads, sand buggy, monster truck - we've done it!). We are very active with our children's education at home and at school. In addition to believing that every child can learn in their own way, our children are the thriving force for doing what I do with Central and education.
