|Fire Science Technology Program|
Associate of Applied Science - Fire Science
Our communities rely heavily on the members of the fire service to provide methodical responses toward service delivery and mitigation. The Fire Science Technology Degree Program of study is designed to prepare students who desire a career in the Fire Service and will certify them to both Local and National levels.
This program of study will provide the understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a fire service member, including the study of modern fire prevention, fire protection, fire suppression, wildland firefighting, and hazardous materials response principals and practices. Successful completion of these programs can lead to employment with municipal, industrial, State and Federal agencies. Certificates of Completion are also available and are designed to enhance promotional opportunities that can ultimately lead to a four-year transfer program.
The mission of the Central Arizona College Fire Science Technology Program is to provide Local and National levels of training and educational programs that support the county's current and projected training and educational initiatives. We will continue to maintain and improve the educational goals and quality of life for our citizens, students and members of public safety.
The Central Arizona College Fire Science Technology Program has been recognized by the Fire & Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) program through the National Fire Academy. Their mission is to provide an organization of post-secondary institutions to promote higher education and to enhance recognition of the fire and emergency services as professions to reduce loss of life and property from fire and other hazards. FESHE schools are adopting peer- and NFA-developed model courses that form a national curriculum from which current and future leaders can learn and advocate critical leadership and fire safety principles. http://www.usfa.fema.gov/training/prodev/about_feshe.html
