CAC Wind Ensemble Fall Concert Set for November 22
The Central Arizona Community Wind Ensemble will present their annual fall concert on Tues., November 22 beginning at 7 p.m.in the Don P. Pence Center for the Visual and Performing Arts on the Central Arizona College Signal Peak Campus (8470 N. Overfield Road, Coolidge, AZ 85128.) There is no charge for this event.
The Central Arizona College High School Honor Band will begin the concert with 65 talented high school students presenting four selections. The students were nominated by their directors and selected by Professor Rick Moore. They will have rehearsed their numbers for only a few hours during the day of the concert. Schools participating in this event include; Apache Junction High School, Casa Grande Union High School, Catalina High School (Tucson), Florence High School, Globe High School, Santa Cruz Valley Union High School (Eloy), Show Low High School, Tanque Verde High School (Tucson), and Vista Grande High School (Casa Grande).
Following the honor band, the 55 member Central Arizona Community Wind Ensemble will take the stage to present a wide variety of concert band selections. The membership of the band consists of Central Arizona College students, area community members and music educators. The conductor is Rick Moore, Central Arizona College Director of Bands.
The wind ensemble will open their segment with “Grand Canyon Fanfare.” This selection will include a slide presentation of photographs, many which were taken by Susan Tatterson, Professor of Digital Media at CAC. Other musical selections will include: an epic journey “Philosopher’s Stone;” Hector Berlioz’s “Hungarian March;” and “Glenn Miller in Concert.” The featured soloist is David Gilliam. Mr. Gilliam is a resident of Maricopa. He will perform “Carrickfergus” (an Irish air) on the euphonium.
