CAC’s STEM program offering free Math Refresher Workshop beginning March 28
APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – Central Arizona College’s Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program is easing math anxiety by offering a free Math Refresher Workshop that is open to future and current CAC students, as well as the general public.
The workshop will be held over the course of six classes, beginning Thursday, March 28, at the Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction.
The Math Refresher Workshop is ideal for students preparing to take the Compass Math Placement Test, and for parents who want a refresher course so they may better assist their children.
Students may attend all of the sessions or select the classes that best meet their needs. The classes and accompanying workbook are available to all students at no cost.
Students must register for the classes prior to attending. The following is a list of the dates, times and subjects of each of the six classes:
Class #1 - Thursday, March 28 - 5:30 to 8 p.m.
· Order of Operations
· Linear Equations/Inequalities
Class #2 - Saturday, April 6 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon
· Graphing Ordered Pairs/Lines
· Parallel/Perpendicular Lines
· Graphing Inequalities
Class #3 - Thursday, April 18 - 5:30 to 8 p.m.
· Compound Inequalities
· Absolute Value
· Solving Systems of Equations
Class #4 - Thursday, April 25 - 5:30 to 8 p.m.
· Rational Numbers
Class #5 - Saturday, May 4 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon
· Complex Numbers
Class 6 - Thursday, May 9 - 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Funding for the workshop and CAC’s STEM program is provided by a STEM grant from the U.S. Department of Education.The STEM Program at Central Arizona College is financed 100 percent by a five-year federal HSI-STEM grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The total federal funds dedicated to this program are $3,388,503.00.
