Spring registration underway for Weekend College courses at Corporate Center

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - Registration is underway for Central Arizona College's Weekend College for the upcoming spring semester.

The college's Corporate Center, primary home to the Weekend College program, is located at the former Palm Center just off of Interstate 10 at the Florence Boulevard Exit.

Weekend College offers full-time professionals, stay-at-home parents, and even high school students the opportunity to take classes when it may be more convenient on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

As the program has expanded over the years, Weekend College offerings have grown to help students fulfill their Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) requirements.

An administration of justice associate degree has been added to the program's slate of offerings, while the college's EMS and fire science programs have found a home at Weekend College for Friday and Saturday classes.

Additionally, it has been announced that Weekend College and Northern Arizona University are teaming up to offer a 90/30 bachelor's degree program in which students can complete 90 credits with CAC and 30 with NAU. This program is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2013.

Qualified high school students who wish to simultaneously earn high school and college credit also find the weekend program to be a convenient means of achieving their goal.

The spring semester begins after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18.

PSY 101 - Introduction to Psychology
Date: Fridays, Jan. 18 through May 17
Time: 5:30-8:15 p.m.
Course Description: Introduction to principles and theories of human behavior, development, personality and cognition, and the relationship to societal issues. Historical views and research methodology applied to psychology also are presented. Field trips may be

SPA 115 - Conversational Spanish
Date: Fridays, Jan. 18 through May 17
Time: 5:30-8:15 p.m.
Course Description: Introduction to conversational Spanish. Fundamentals of authentic speaking and listening skills in Spanish, with minimal grammar instruction. Introduction to cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

AJS 101 - Introduction to Administration of Justice
Date: Saturdays, Jan. 19 through May 18
Time: 1-3:45 p.m.
Course Description: History and philosophy of the criminal justice system. Organization and jurisdiction of local, state and federal law enforcement, judicial and correctional systems. Career opportunities and qualifying requirements, terminology, and constitutional precedence.
