Jazz Night slides into the Pence Center on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. - The Central Arizona College Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Rick Moore will present its swinging brand of music with Jazz Night at the Pence Center on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Don P. Pence Center for Visual & Performing Arts.
Tickets for the show at the Signal Peak Campus are $5 and may be purchased online at http://jazzband-eorg.eventbrite.com/#.
The Signal Peak Campus is conveniently located midway between the cities of Tucson and Phoenix in Pinal County just east of Interstate 10 at the McCartney Road Exit. The campus address is 8470 N. Overfield Road, Coolidge, AZ 85128.
The 14-piece jazz ensemble will highlight its show with both classic Big Band music and contemporary jazz literature. Featured classic music will include Ray Charles' Smack Dab in the Middle and All of Me, Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man, and The Cherry Poppin' Daddies' Zoot Suit Riot.
The featured soloist will be Walter Jacobson, a resident of Mission Royale, on flugelhorn.
The ensemble also includes Emily Omeroid (Casa Grande Union High School) on alto sax; Salina Brown (Basha High School), Marilyn Tessitore (Casa Grande Union High School) and Seth Wyatt (Casa Grande Union High School) on trumpet; and Stephen Munden (Casa Grande Union High School) and Ronald Stegner (Florence High School) on trombone.
Duane Moore of the Sun City community and Larry Marik of Casa Grande will serve as tenors during the performance.
Florence resident Jeffery Reel will also play trumpet, while CAC adjunct professor and Arizona City resident John Sutton will perform on bass. Tommy Flewelling (Peoria High School) will play guitar and John Cantu (Florence High School) will man the drum set.
