Soup’s On event helping keep CAC’s Promise for the Future
APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Soup's On again March 9 when the Central Arizona College Lifelong Learners (C.A.L.L.) program unveils a plethora of soup, chili and stew during its annual fundraising event benefiting the Promise for the Future Scholarship program.
The luncheon is open to the public and will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be served in Room 444 of the Superstition Mountain Campus, located at 273 East Old West Highway in Apache Junction.
C.A.L.L. members make homemade soups, stews and chili - almost anything that can be brewed up in a crock pot - for guests who have an opportunity to sample as much food as they can slurp. More than 25 crock pots are expected to be on display.
Tickets for the annual fundraising luncheon may be purchased in advance by contacting Joel Beck at Central's Superstition Mountain Campus at 480-677-7721, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ticket prices are based upon donation with a minimum charge of $6 per person.
The Promise for the Future Scholarship Program is a joint effort of Central Arizona College, the Central Arizona College Foundation, and the schools throughout Pinal County. Its purpose is to address the school dropout rate in the county and increase access to higher education.
Pinal County students enrolled in the eighth grade in a Pinal County middle school have the opportunity to sign a Promise for the Future Contract of Commitment. This information is distributed through Pinal County middle schools in the spring of each year.
Students will be eligible to submit the formal application during the spring of their senior year in high school.
Recipients may receive the award of up to four semesters of in-state tuition for study at any of CAC's 10 locations. Students must graduate from a Pinal County high school with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 and then enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
While at Central Arizona College, students must maintain a 2.50 GPA, be continuously enrolled at the college, and complete a minimum of nine credits each semester.
