By Guy Harrison, Media & Marketing Specialist
MAMMOTH & SADDLEBROOKE, Ariz. - Larry Ramirez, a long-time user of e-mail and a local photographer, will teach E-Mail & Internet for Beginners and Basic Digital Photography aimed at students who are newcomers to both media.
The two courses will be offered through Central Arizona College's Community Education program.
E-Mail & Internet for Beginners will be held at Mammoth Elementary School on three consecutive Wednesdays beginning Apr. 13 through Apr. 27 from 4-5 p.m.
The class offers an introduction to e-mail and the Internet with emphasis on setting up an e-mail address, sending and receiving email, and exploring Internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo! Tuition for this class is $25.
Basic Digital Photography allows students to maximize the use of their own digital cameras. Tips on lighting and terminology will be discussed.
This class is designed for novices and those who desire to expand their photography skills. Students must provide their own digital camera.
This class will be held at CAC's SaddleBrooke Center on Sat., Apr. 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. The class is $25 per person.
Ramirez remained loyal to shooting with 35mm film before learning of digital photography. A hiking and outdoor enthusiast, photography has given Ramirez the ability to share some of the amazing things that he has seen throughout his adventures.
His photographs have been published in newspapers, earned awards, been exhibited, and have been used as post cards by the town of Mammoth.
Ramirez also has been using e-mail since the late 1980s. He has used it in numerous capacities, including a recreational vehicle business, sharing files with friends, casual correspondence, sending attachments for insurance claims, and sending stories and photos following his hikes in the Grand Canyon.
