35th Annual Pinal-Gila Senior Fair & Fiesta moves indoors; outdoor activities cancelled
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – The 35th Annual Pinal-Gila Senior Fair & Fiesta is moving indoors this Saturday at Central Arizona College’s Signal Peak Campus.
Because of the potential for inclement weather and wind, the Pinal-Gila Senior Fair & Fiesta committee made the recommendation to move inside the George Young Activity Center, home of Central Arizona College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
“While the committee preferred to hold the event outdoors, it also recognized the fragile nature of the hard-made arts and crafts produced by the vendors,” Tom Di Camillo, CAC’s director of media and community events, explained. “Moving to Plan B and going inside the gym guarantees us a comfortable atmosphere where we can control the conditions.”
The Senior Fair & Fiesta will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday with music and entertainment still on schedule to begin at 9 a.m. There is no fee for admission or parking.
The event is sponsored jointly by the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens, the city of Casa Grande and Central Arizona College.
The multi-generational fair and fiesta features vendors selling a variety of hand-made crafts and items, music from Central Arizona College’s Jazz Band and Jazz Choir, face painting and balloons, health information and screening, and more.
Unfortunately, the display of CAC’s heavy equipment and local antique tractors, along with the inflatable jumping castles, could not be accommodated indoors and have been cancelled.
The following is the entertainment schedule for Saturday:
• D.J. - Daniel Guevara (9-9:20 a.m.)
• Desert Country Musicians (9:45-10:45 a.m.)
• D.J. Daniel Guevara (10:45-11 a.m.)
