Students earn college credits in CAC’s Green Collar Construction program at the Casa Grande Center

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Central Arizona College is replanting its own renewable resource by offering a series of short-term Green Collar Construction classes throughout the spring semester.

The credit classes will be held in the Green Trades Classroom of the Casa Grande Center located at the intersection of Florence Boulevard and Trekell Road in the city of Casa Grande.

CAC initially unveiled a series of green-based one- and two-hour workshops in June of 2009 to introduce the Green Collar Construction program to the community. Now the more in-depth courses are being offered for credit.

The following classes are being offered throughout the spring semester:

  • Feb. 8-10 - Intro to Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • Feb. 11-12 – Fundamentals of Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • March 24 - April 16 (Monday-Friday) - Intro to Weatherization, Solar, and Green Construction (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 6 Credits
  • March 24-26 - Intro to Green Block (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • March 31-April 2 - Intro to Steel Framing (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • April 5-6 - Intro to Weatherization (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • April 7-9 - Intro to Rammed Earth (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • April 12-14 - Intro to Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • April 15-16 - Fundamentals of Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • May 19-June11 (Monday-Friday) - Intro to Weatherization, Solar, and Green Construction (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 6 Credits
  • May 19-21 - Intro to Green Block (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • May 24-26 - Intro to Steel Framing (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • May 27-28 - Intro to Weatherization (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • June 2-4 - Intro to Rammed Earth (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • June 7-9 - Intro to Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
  • June 10-11 - Fundamentals of Solar Panels (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 1 Credit
