EASTERN PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. - Preregistration for Central Arizona College’s General Educational Development (GED) courses begins on Aug. 3 at the Aravaipa Campus.
The GED classes are divided into a pair of eight-week sessions and are currently provided at no cost to Arizona residents. The first sessions begin on Aug. 18 followed by the second sessions that will start on Oct. 12. Preregistration for the second session will begin on Sept. 28.
Students who have lived in Arizona for less than a year must pay a $186 out-of-state fee. All students registering for the GED classes must show proof of legal presence in the United States.
Ronny Douglass, who coordinates the district-wide GED programs, encourages people to register early.
“Many of our GED classes fill up within just a few days,” she explained. “We encourage people to sign up as soon as possible to ensure they get the classes they want.”
GED courses for both sessions will be held at San Manuel Junior/High School, Superior Junior/Senior High School, Mammoth Elementary School and the Mountain Vista School in Oracle.
During the first session, classes at Mammoth Elementary will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 18 through Oct. 6. Classes at Superior Junior/Senior High School will occur on the same days and dates, but the course will run from 6-9 p.m.
The GED classes for the Mountain Vista School and San Manuel High School will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings from Aug. 17 through Oct. 7.
