CAC seeks nominees for Extraordinary Alumni Achievement Award to build Wall of Success
July 20, 2009
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – Nominations are now being accepted for Central Arizona College’s Extraordinary Alumni Achievement Award and Wall of Success that will be unveiled during the institution’s 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Signal Peak Campus.
The Wall of Success will be a permanent structure to display the names of students who have received the Extraordinary Alumni Achievement Award, an honor created to recognize the success of Central Arizona College students.
The first group of honorees will be inducted during the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the opening of the Signal Peak Campus that took place in the fall of 1969.
“The college community is proud to have graduated tens of thousands of students and served hundreds of thousands more,” Doris Helmich, the vice president of student services, said. “This special award will be presented to students who have taken at least 15 academic credits and who have extraordinary achievements in their personal and professional lives.”
Although the Wall of Success will be one of the major components of the 40th Anniversary, the program will become an annual event designed to celebrate the achievement and successes of Central Arizona College students.
Nominations will be accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis. The deadline to nominate candidates for the inaugural induction is Sept. 30.
Anyone may nominate a candidate for the Wall of Success. Former CAC students are encouraged to self-nominate.
To be eligible for the Wall of Success, candidates must have completed at least 15 credits at Central Arizona College. Some of the criteria that will be used to evaluate candidates includes, but is not limited to:
• Volunteer Community Service
• Professional, local, regional, national or international recognition
• Public position(s) held
• Support of CAC and its staff
• Accomplishments in field of expertise
A temporary display of the Wall of Success and Extraordinary Alumni Achievement Award will be erected during the 40th Anniversary Celebration. Plans are currently underway to develop a permanent location for the display.
